This week my guest is Sarah; a wife and self-employed mother of two from London, England. Sarah's eldest daughter, a bright and articulate 11-year-old, wrote a letter to her parents laying out the reasons why she wanted to be home educated rather than continue her education at the kind of school that some parents would sell a kidney to have their son or daughter attend. This left Sarah and her husband in a bit of a quandary, to say the very least.
Fantastic interview, I have started reading "Hold on to your kids" by Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate. And it's all about the dangers of peer attachment. I see it as a huge revelation as to why society and culture is how it is now in many parts of the world. I'd love to hear both yours and Sarah's insights as to this concept.
Thanks Daryl, I see peer attachment as one of the greatest weapons against the family, once again it is being utilised in a 'nice' way so as to ensure that guards are down. It looks 'natural' and 'accidental' - but nothing promotes peer attachment more than being at school for 5-8 hours per day! As the book says: "Hold on to your kids!"
