If you thought 19.6% was bad...

If you thought 19.6% was bad...

Then, you’re going to need to sit down for this one!

This year, just 19.6% was all that was required for a “PASS” in GCSE Maths.
Last year, it was even worse: 15.8%.

This isn’t a robust examinations system, it’s a punchline.

(This year’s paper was arguably the EASIEST one ever written and the video, above, shows the difference in standard of questions from 1940, through 1988 to 2022).

The video contains categorical proof that a Level 4 is a fail (old Grade D) and that the exams ARE getting easier.

(Not for those who lack emotional intelligence!!) ;)

Did you know?

(Of course, you didn’t!)

In 2016, 50% of the exam was still non-calculator.
In 2023, just 33% of the exam was non-calculator.

Funny how the only people who argue with me are those who:

a) don’t watch the videos
b) don’t seem to understand that I am a GCSE Maths Examiner
c) got a Level 4 themselves (as an adult!)
d) have a son/daughter or other close relative who got a ‘4’ in maths

Grow up!

It isn’t about YOU or your ONE child - it is about a nation whose average mathematical ability has gone to the dogs!

“Education not indoctrination!”
