Half of all children are below average
Think about that for a second…
Half of all children are below average
OF COURSE, half of all children are below average at absolutely anything when analysed at population level.
No parent wants to view their child as ‘below average’ particularly when it comes to academic subjects such as English and Mathematics.
However, getting ahead isn’t as difficult as it might seem.
National examinations such as SATS, GCSEs, and ‘A’ Levels are all subject to ‘moving’ grade boundaries. That is to say that in one year an ‘A’ grade (new level 7) in Mathematics GCSE can be as low as 52%, in other years that same ‘A’ grade is achieved at 58%.
Grade boundaries move, so your son/daughter only needs to do well relative to the performance of their direct peers.
I’ll bet most of you are stunned at the extremely low percentages; only needing just above half marks to secure an ‘A’!!!!!! (This is real - I have been a GCSE maths examiner since 2015)
If you are the type of parent that wants your child to achieve the very best grades they can in all that they do then get along to my “School Mathematics” masterclass tomorrow night at 19:30.
