Dealing with the local authorities (AKA Goons)
Thank you for your fine company and questions last night, another whirl-wind tour of force.
Please find below links to all of the government documents that pertain to Elective Home Education from which I quoted last night.
Whilst I always recommend consulting original documents, if you are only just beginning your Guerrilla Ed journey – or feel overwhelmed by all of this new information – here are two more-accessible articles that I wrote a couple of years back covering the vitals… nothing has changed since!
Sarah Plumley: Elective Home Education
Sarah Plumley: Unregistered Schools Are Illegal
All of the above are present and correct for the law plus the Department for “Education’s” (DfE) advice and guidance in England & Wales as it stands today.
‘The Schools’ Bill’ does *NOT* alter Guerrilla Ed one bit, however as/when it becomes law, I will of course give it its due and communicate the latest advice to you.
Most of my communications come via my Substack email and will likely land in your inbox junk mail!
**PLEASE NOTE: If you do not regularly check your junk, spam and/or ‘promotions’ folders, then there is little I can do to help you (as I haven’t mastered smoke signals yet!)
Sample Home Ed Reports to EHE Officers (successful)
If you would like three stellar examples (home ed reports) of how to pacify the Elective Home Education Officers (the Goons), then please hit ‘reply’ and let me know you’d like them.
Remember to write your own report in an email or in a simple ‘word’ document, rather than filling out their forms, keep it to the point, be as polite as you can manage and always be professional.
The three mentioned examples are OUTSTANDING – if you are able to use language this confidently, then I encourage you to do so. If I received any of these reports, I would know to not mess with these parents!
Human nature is to go after the low-hanging fruit, so don’t be easy to snatch, be as alike these three reports as you can manage – WAY out of reach of the average local tyrant.
Finally, if you only have time for one article, then it should be this one:
Sarah Plumley: Elective Home Education
If you are struggling or overloaded, simply follow last night’s advice in lieu of any of the reading contained here and be sure to ask if you get stuck.
The principles I taught last night are 100% legal in England & Wales and if you follow what we went through you are unlikely to experience any difficulties what-so-ever.

DfE EHE Guidance for Local Authorities April 2019 (Latest version)v2.0.pdf
(Very interesting for parents to read as it shows just how little interest there is in guiding, training and advising parents on best educational practices at home – it also reveals the underhand tactics that the LA is encouraged, by the DfE, to employ!)
